Formerly known as Pinole Aikido, we here at WCA have been teaching Aikido since 1985. We are a non-profit organization and use Aikido to promote non-violent conflict resolution. Our chief instructor, Louis Decena has been practicing Aikido on and off since 1963 and started teaching upon opening Pinole Aikido in 1985. We are affiliated with Pacific Aikido Federation headed by Shiohira Shihan in San Francisco. We have always had a very successful children's program and offer an experienced instructing staff for adults.

A Little About Aikido

Caligraphy by Shiohira shihanAikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba (Sometimes reffered to as O'Sensei) who created a martial art that is purely defensive in nature. An attack is redirected in a controlled manner which leads to a pin or a throw. The object is not to injure an attacker, but to redirect the mind as well as the body towards peaceful solutions to conflict. Aikido means "the art of peace".
